Each year hundreds of students come to New York City in the hopes of furthering their careers with an internship in the theatre industry. If you happen to be one of those interns, think about joining the Theatre Intern Group. Membership offers social and professional development opportunities for anyone who currently serves as an intern in the theatre industry. Membership allows you to build contacts with your peers immediately upon starting work in the theatre community.
Members are invited to attend monthly panel discussions on the many varied facets of the theatre industry. These events offer intimate opportunities to learn from professionals with 5 to 10 years of experience - long enough to be immersed in their professions, but not so far removed from their own experience as an intern.
Recent panel topics have included: Theater and the Internet, Producing New Work, Theatrical Press & Publicity, Theatrical Marketing & Advertising, The Work of an Agent, Company & General Management. For further details about past meetings and topics visit our Recent Events page.
If you are currently interning in a New York theatre office, we invite you to come to our next meeting. For a $10 membership fee, you will have access to this exciting program for one full year. In addition to receiving special volunteer and job opportunities, ticket offers to both Broadway and Off-Broadway shows are also made available from time to time, enabling TIG members to see all sorts of theater for free!
Come mingle with other interns and see how small this business really is. There’s a good chance you’ll meet someone with similar interests and who knows, that person may end up being a future colleague!
